NEWS | Marfo re-signs until 2020

Scotland international prop Darryl Marfo is the latest player to commit his future to the club as the loose-head today signed a new two-year-deal, keeping him in the capital until at least 2020.

Marfo, 27, has enjoyed a breakout season since arriving from English Premiership side Bath last summer. The Pangbourne College product – who began his career with Harelquins – featured in all nine of Edinburgh’s fixtures to start the season, before being named in the Scotland squad for the 2017 Autumn Tests.

Marfo – who is eligible for Scotland through his Ayrshire born mother – made his international debut in the 44-38 win over Samoa at BT Murrayfield, before starting in both the tight loss to New Zealand and the 53-24 victory over Australia.

On extending his stay at the club, Marfo said: "I'm extremely happy and proud to have re-signed with Edinburgh, at a time when the club is heading in a very positive direction.

“The team’s success is spearheaded by an excellent management group and I'm looking forward to contributing to help make the club as successful as possible."

Marfo is currently recovering from a back injury suffered in November, but the prop is in contention to return for Edinburgh’s crucial end-of-season run in, which includes home fixtures against Munster, Ulster, Scarlets and Glasgow, and a European Challenge Cup quarter-final clash with Cardiff Blues.

On securing the services of Marfo for a further two seasons, Head Coach Richard Cockerill said: “We’re delighted that Darryl has committed his future to the club. He’s been an influential character since arriving in the summer and he’s got a major role to play in the seasons to come.”
