Guinness PRO14 fixtures announced for 2018/19

Friday Night will continue to be Rugby Night in the capital as the fixtures for the 2018/19 Guinness PRO14 season were announced today.

Richard Cockerill’s squad will start the new campaign away to Welsh outfit Ospreys on Friday 31 August before traveling to Ulster the following weekend.

The first home game of the new season sees the capital side taking on Connacht at BT Murrayfield on Friday 14 September (kick-off 7.35pm).

Supporters can look forward to a mouth-watering home encounter against Cheetahs on Friday 5 October – the two club’s first meeting on Scottish soil – before Edinburgh welcome last season’s Guinness PRO14 finalists, Scarlets, to BT Murrayfield on Friday 2 November.

The 1872 Cup will once again be contested over the festive period as Richard Cockerill’s side welcome Glasgow Warriors to BT Murrayfield on Saturday 22 December, before travelling west to Scotstoun a week later on Saturday 29 December.

Edinburgh will face South African side Southern Kings at BT Murrayfield on Saturday 5 January in their first encounter of 2019 before Richard Cockerill’s side travel to Port Elizabeth for the corresponding fixture only three-weeks later (Saturday 26 January).

Edinburgh will close out the 2018/19 campaign with two home fixtures against Irish powerhouses Leinster (w/o 22 March) and Ulster (w/o 12 April) before the final 1872 Cup fixture away to Glasgow Warriors on the last day of the regular season (w/o 26 April).

Reacting to this afternoon’s Guinness PRO14 fixture announcement, Head Coach Richard Cockerill, said: ”Ospreys will be a different side again, with new coaching staff and players, but any away game is going to be tough.

"We're confident and we're well prepared and, like I've said previously, we're going to go into every game - regardless of the opposition - with the mindset to win."
