Pre-Season Open Day to kickstart community activity

The club will be out and about in the community again this weekend and it all kicks off with our Pre-Season Open Day at BT Murrayfield on Friday 10 August.

Doors open at 5pm and the team will take to the training pitch at 6pm. Some well-known faces will be on hand to talk through the action and the players will all be available for photographs and sign autographs.There will be fun for all the family too with community coaches running passing challenges, and rugby golf. 

Saturday 11 August will see a number of Edinburgh players head out to local clubs as part of the Royal Bank Rugby Force initiative.

Lasswade RFC will welcome Allan Dell and Ben Toolis for their Family Fun Day, whilst Lasswade will have an open training session from 12.30 - 1.30pm followed by their 1st XV match against Jed Forest (kick-off 3pm). If you fancy staying for a drink, ‘Pig and Pint’ will be available from 6pm till late with tickets priced at £15.

Down at Leith Rugby, Grant Gilchrist and Simon Berghan will be making an appearance at their Open Day. Highlights at Leith will include a BBQ, bouncy castle, Tartan Touch sessions and two senior fixtures – Leith Rugby v Uddingston (kick-off 1.30pm) and Leith Rugby v Dunfermline (kick-off 3.30pm).

Meanwhile Haddington RFC are looking to break a World Record whilst raising money for Wooden Spoon on Sunday 12 August for the most players in a rugby match which will take the form of a continuous game of touch rugby. The current record is 442 players, but their plan is to get to 700!

Stuart McInally and WP Nel will be making an appearance at the club to assist with the activities which will also include Edinburgh’s rugby golf game.
