Full Back

South African back Henry Immelman made the move to Edinburgh Rugby from French Top14 side Montpellier ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Immelman learned his trade at the prestigious rugby nursery, Grey College, in Free State and featured in the U20 provincial championships (reaching the final), CUT Ixias Varsity Cup and Free State XV squads.

He then joined Montpellier in 2016, where he has spent five seasons in the French top flight, where he helped the club to a third and first-place regular season finish in 2017 and 2018 (finishing as runners-up in 2018) while former Scotland Head Coach Vern Cotter was at the helm.

Immelman has scored 13 tries in his 75 appearances for the club before making the move to the Scottish capital in the summer of 2021.

The South African made his Edinburgh Rugby debut against Scarlets in Round 1 of the 2021-22 United Rugby Championship.

Immelman grabbed his first score for the club in the 14-17 URC win over Vodacom Bulls in October 2021, and went one better scoring a brace and earning POTM in March 2022’s thumping 56-8 win against Connacht.
