Edinburgh lose to Munster

The game started near perfectly for the home side, with the capital men racing into a 12 point lead after 14 minutes. Chris Dean opened the scoring with three minutes on the clock, latching onto a Luke Crosbie offload after the flanker burst through the defence, freeing the centre to run around the last man to score.

Darcy Graham then continued his red-hot form, intercepting a loose Munster pass to scurry away down the line to score. Unfortunately the score would be one of Graham’s last involvements, with the winger limping off with a knee injury shortly after.

Munster got their first try after 20 minutes, with the Irish maul causing problems for the home defence. Penalties marched the visitors up the pitch, the pressure eventually telling as scrum half Craig Casey darted through a gap on the line to score.

Edinburgh started to dominate the game, pinning Munster in the half for the remainder of the first 40. The pressure eventually told, with co-captain Jamie Ritchie diving over after an arching run from Kinghorn had put the flanker into space.

It wouldn’t be the last action of the first half, however, with Munster grabbing a crucial score as the clock turned red, with centre Rory Scannell cutting through to reduce the arrears.

Munster set the tone for the second half immediately, with Calvin Nash carving through the home defence to score, putting the Munster men into a lead that they wouldn’t let go of.

It didn’t take long for Munster to extend their lead, with Gavin Coombes finishing from close range after a sustained period of pressure. Edinburgh huffed and puffed, but errors and ill-discipline kept Munster firmly in charge of the game. Carbery added a penalty to put the result beyond doubt, before having the final say with a try at the death.
