Edinburgh A took a deserved win on the road in Glasgow last Friday, scoring four tries in a full blooded affair to win 27-26

Ben Muncaster bragged a brace of tries, with Charlie Shiel and Heriot’s Rugby back Liam Richman also on the scoresheet.

The Edinburgh A squad was made up of Edinburgh senior and academy players, plus additions from the FOSROC Super Series, and put the men from the west to the sword in an abrasive encounter behind closed doors at Scotstoun Stadium.

Glasgow hit the front with a maul try, before Charlie Shiel responded with a score of his own, breaking free from the base of a maul to dot down. Richman put the visitors ahead with a stunning score; Cammy Scott chipped out wide to Heriot’s winger Lewis Wells, who offloaded to the onrushing Richman to score in the corner.

The home side hit back early in the second half, however Ben Muncaster’s decisive scores put the capital men in control. The first try was a well crafted team try, all started with an excellent break from fullback Harry Paterson. The rangy 15 broke free, releasing Muncaster who exchanged passes with Richman to go under the sticks.

Muncaster’s second score came from a clever individual move. With pressure mounting on the opposition’s line, Muncaster broke through a ruck undetected to cross the whitewash.

Glasgow hit back with two scores to put them a point behind, however Edinburgh held out to take the win, with Cammy Scott excellently bundling Amena Caqusau into touch with the clock in the red.
