Goodnight

Thanks for tuning into match centre tonight. Our next fixture comes next Saturday as we head to South Africa to take on the Lions in Johannesburg, with kick off coming at 12:45 GMT.

Enjoy your weekend!

21:50

Full Time: Edinburgh 19-40 Ulster

It’s game over at Hive Stadium, where Ulster take maximum points from the capital thanks to tries from Irvine, Augustus, Flannery, Wilson, McKee and Carson.

Edinburgh had led 19-14 at the break after Ross Thompson, Harry Paterson and Wes Goosen crossed, but 26 unanswered points in the second 40 saw the visitors come out on the right side of the scoreboard.

80'

Held Up

It’s not to be for the visitors as Edinburgh get bodies under the ball to hold the final attack up, and that will be the game. Ulster’s number 8 Juarno Augustus is awarded Player of the Match.

80'

Last Attack

One last chance for Ulster after a pinpoint kick from Murphy finds the corner.

78'

In The Closing Stages

Just two minutes to go at Hive, Ulster have the scrum after Edinburgh fail to release from the maul.

76'

Boyle Makes Way As Richardson Comes Back On

It’s Richardson for Boyle as Edinburgh sacrifice a back rower to return to a full front row for the final five minutes.

74'

Try Ulster - Carson Goes Over

It’s carry after carry for Ulster with every player making yards. Substitutes McKee, McCann and Carson prove too strong in the breakdown and it’s the latter who hits the turf. Murphy again converts. 19-40.

71'

A Triple Sub

Three changes for Edinburgh. On come Tom Currie, James Whitcombe and Cammy Scott, replacing Ross Thompson, Boan Venter and Mosese Tuipulotu.

69'

Try for McKee

A high ball is gathered by Ward after a contest in the air with Harry Paterson. Edinburgh simply can’t deal with the play in the middle and it breaks to McKee who has a clear route to the line. The conversion stretches the lead to 14, with the score now at 19-33.

67'

Morris Yellow Upgraded

Unsurprisingly, Harri Morris’ sin-bin is now a 20 minute red card, after not a lot of time in the bunker. Edinburgh will finish the game with 14 men.

67'

Huge From Blyth-Lafferty

What work in the breakdown from Ollie! It’s wave after wave from Ulster, but the replacement front-row gets in early to win possession back and hand us a route back to attack.

63'

Morris Sees Yellow

From the restart, Harri Morris goes steaming into Cormac Izuchukwu in the air, with the back rower landing awkwardly on the deck. Morris makes his way to the sin bin, with an off-field review again imminent. The decision will follow shortly…

62'

Ulster Lead

Ulster have their foot on the throttle as Edinburgh are caught offside twice. The bruising blow comes from substitute Scott Wilson – who uses sheer brute force to find the line for the bonus point. It’s converted and for the first time tonight they lead. It’s 19-26 to the visitors.

61'

Another Change In The Front Row

Richardson makes way for Harri Morris. Great shift Dylan!

60'

Sub At Scrum-Half

Charlie Shiel replaces captain Vellacott

57'

A BIG TURNOVER FROM BEN

Ulster have a lineout on the five-metre after Edinburgh are penalised on the 22. A big defensive lineout effort follows and Ben Muncaster gets his hands on the ball just on the right hand side of the posts. He is mobbed by his team mates after a vital contribution.

55'

Success At Scrum Time For Ulster

Ollie Blyth-Lafferty is penalised in his first scrum as Bell and McAllister dominate the drive. Ulster have a platform to build, despite being a man down.

53'

Bunker Decision - 20 Minute Red Card

Harry Sheridan’s yellow is upgraded to a 20 minute red due to a high degree of danger with no mitigation.

52'

A Change At Tighthead

Ollie Blyth-Lafferty replaces Angus Williams in the front row.

51'

Ulster Level

Some slick combination play sees Michael Lowry break the line with some rapid strides. An offload out the back finds Ward, who is given the simplest of tasks to offload to substitute Jake Flannery who arrives on an untracked run. The conversion is missed, it’s 19-19.

46'

Yellow For Sheridan as Ulster Go Back To 14

After consultation with the TMO, Harry Sheridan is sent to the bin for high contact with Connor Boyle. It will go for review, with the possibility of a 20 minute red. We’ll bring you the result of the decision as soon as it comes.

44'

Unlucky Liam!

We attack the short side after winning back possession. Some big front row carries sees Venter and Richardson make serious yards. Then the backs get involved before McConnell loses it forward. Ulster try to go up the other end but have to take the long way round and knock on through Kok. The referee is looking at a potential high tackle with his TMO, this could be trouble for Ulster…

42'

An Early Penalty

The penalty count is hurting Ulster so far. Again they’re penalised at the breakdown – this time it’s Hume for offside. We’ll kick for touch, which Thompson finds. An attacking lineout follows but it comes to nothing – Ulster scrum.

41'

Second Half Gets Going

Back underway at Hive Stadium, with Edinburgh leading 19-14, defending the Murrayfield end going from left to right. A big second half to come, come on Edinburgh!

20:40

Half Time: Edinburgh 19-14 Ulster

A pulsating first half comes to a close. Tries from Thompson, Paterson and Goosen sees Edinburgh hold a narrow advantage at the half. Check back for second half updates.

40'

Herring Steals

Captain Rob Herring swoops in at the breakdown and wins a penalty in the ruck. Ulster can’t make the most of the last attack of the half and the teams return to the sheds with Edinburgh leading by five.

39'

Goosen Makes Way

Wes Goosen can’t shake a knock picked up in that last attack. Replacing him is Jack Brown – who has already had some time on the field as a HIA replacement for the now-well Piers O’Conor.

38'

This Is Carnage

A crazy couple of minutes ends with Conor Boyle coming so close to securing the bonus point. A lightning break by Vellacott gives us high field position and although we are pushed back, we reload another wave on the left with Goosen. Charging in comes Boyle, but he knocks on with the line in grasp, handing Ulster the scrum.

35'

Try for Augustus

A sweeping move from Ulster reduces the arrears. Conor Boyle is drawn into James Hume who releases Bryn Ward then onwards to Conor McKee. He puts on the gas and offloads to Augustus under pressure from Paterson. The big back rower bundles over on a strong support line. The try is backed up with an extra two, it’s 19-14.

31'

THE GOOSE GOES OVER

That is Hollywood rugby! The backs combine with the help of Boan Venter’s monumental carry. Sese and Thompson work the space before the latter’s looping pass evades Kok and lands in the hands of Goosen who finds the left line. Thompson’s kick bounces back off the posts. The gap increases to 19-7.

28'

Conor Boyle That Is SUBLIME

Ulster fly up the field after Harry Paterson kicks for territory. Carries from Kok, Izuchukwu and Sheridan precede Jack Murphy hitting the turf perhaps a little too easy. In steps Boyle over the ruck, jackaling with precision to force the penalty before letting out a deafening roar.

Piers O’Conor returns from his HIA, Jack Brown leaves the field as a result.

24'

A Hat-Trick In Touch For Ward

Ulster build through the phases as they look to hit back for a second time. Not once but twice Satala drags Zac Ward to touch on the left. To complete the treble it’s Liam McConnell who flies in with a definite try-saving tackle on the five-metre line to take Ward off the pitch. Another lineout beckons in our defensive half.

21'

YES HARRY!

From the lineout it’s an expert maul from Edinburgh which does the damage. The ball gets sent to Goosen who pops up a pass for Paterson to stride over. What a move, what a score. Thompson converts, Edinburgh lead 14-7.

19'

HIA for O'Conor

Piers O’Conor is replaced by Jack Brown for a HIA.

19'

Cagey Stuff

Both sides making mistakes here as they grapple for control. It’s Edinburgh who will have the latest chance to attack thanks to a wonderful kick from Harry Paterson after solid work in the ruck from Conor Boyle.

14'

Scrum Time

A first scrum of the night after Richardson’s throw isn’t straight. Both packs bear down and it’s the visitors who win the penalty as Venter is penalised. Ulster will clear up to halfway.

10'

Ulster Hit Back Through Irvine

The visitors build phases from a good field position given after they kicked from a penalty. Play moves across the 22 and after strong carries from Bell and Augustus, it’s second-rower Charlie Irvine who crashes over, with Jack Murphy converting. We’re level at 7-7.

6'

TRYYY FOR THOMPSON

There’s no hold up in pressure as Harry Paterson comes bounding through, offloading to Richardson who carries big. Mosese Tuipulotu takes it from the ruck and plays flat to the onrushing Thompson for a walk in. He also converts.

Edinburgh 7-0 Ulster

5'

Ulster Hold Out

Venter makes yards as we pile for the line, but Augustus gets underneath it to deny the score.

4'

Pressure Piling

It’s penalty after penalty for Edinburgh as Ulster are caught offside. Richardson punches a hole through the rearguard but is just short of the line and knocks on in his attempt. It’s yet another penalty as Venter lines up another tap…

3'

Held Up

A heavy first assault for the line comes off the maul as we play short quick ball. McConnell looks to find the whitewash on the right as Edinburgh are given penalty advantage. He is held up by scrum-half David Shanahan who takes a head knock. We go back for the tap and go through Venter…

2'

Bright Start

A huge first burst from Muncaster breaks the line on the 22. He hits the turf and it’s a great ruck from Edinburgh and Ulster winger Zac Ward is sent to the bin for playing the nine. We have a man advantage for the next ten minutes as Thompson goes to the corner.

1'

Off We Go

It’s time for action as Ross Thompson gets us underway. We’re going from right to left at the Hive Stadium in this first half. Come on Edinburgh!!!

19:45

Kick Off Delay

Kick off will be slightly later here at Hive Stadium due to an incident in the crowd.

19:42

A sold-out Hive Stadium greets the two sides as they emerge from the tunnel. Now it’s game time…
