12 selected for Ireland U20 friendly
4 Jun 2026Ollie Blyth-Lafferty captains the side as a strong Edinburgh contingent lines up for tomorrow's World Rugby U20 Championship warm-up clash at Meggetland.
Edinburgh Rugby is well represented in the Scotland U20 squad named to face Ireland tomorrow (Friday 5 June, kick-off 3.30pm), with 12 players from the club involved in the squad for the friendly at Meggetland — the home of Ollie Blyth-Lafferty’s childhood club, Boroughmuir RFC.
Blyth-Lafferty – who last season made his Edinburgh Rugby debut and stepped up to his first professional contract – leads the side from tighthead prop, a fitting honour given the home venue. He is joined in the front row by hooker Jack Utterson.
Nairn Moncrieff starts on the left wing, with Henry Widdowson at full-back, while Sam Byrd lines up at blindside flanker.
Three incoming Edinburgh academy players are also included and could make their Scotland U20 debuts. Scrum-half Matthew Fick and winger Dan Kelly both start, while number 8 Harry Jackaman gets the nod in the back row.
Off the bench, Jamie Stewart, Hamish MacArthur, Harry Soboil and Rory McHaffie are all in line to make an impact as the squad looks ahead to the upcoming World Rugby U20 Championship in Georgia
