Cold Town House become Edinburgh Rugby’s Official Away Match Hub

20 Sep 2022

Edinburgh Rugby has today announced an exciting new partnership with capital-based bar and eatery, Cold Town House.

Located in the city’s popular Grassmarket area, and nestled directly below the world-famous Edinburgh Castle, the partnership sees Cold Town House become the club’s ‘Official Away Match Hub’, giving Edinburgh Rugby fans the perfect spot to meet up and back the team together on away days.

The partnership also sees Cold Town House’s logo and branding feature on the rear of the club’s 22/23 Macron match shorts, with the tongue-in-cheek phrase ‘best view in town’ alluding to the bar’s iconic rooftop terrace, situated in the beautiful surroundings of Edinburgh Castle and the city’s Old Town.

Those supporters with a keen eye will have noticed the new on-kit branding get its first run out on Saturday night as Edinburgh Rugby secured a season opening 44-6 win against Dragons RFC at DAM Health Stadium.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth has welcomed the new partnership, while praising Cold Town House’s historic roots embedded in the heart of the city.

Struth said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Cold Town House to our sponsor family and it was fantastic to see their branding proudly feature on our match shorts this past Saturday as we got our 22/23 campaign off to a flyer with a resounding win against Dragons RFC.

“Cold Town House is a local, thriving and ambitious business, whose iconic Grassmarket location – situated in the heart of the Old Town, directly below Castle Rock – is steeped in history and prestige. It’s a partnership that fits perfectly with our own brand ideals as we celebrate our 150th anniversary.

“This is also a really exciting partnership for our supporters too as Cold Town House becomes our Official Away Match Hub, giving Edinburgh fans the perfect spot to meet up on ‘away days’ and back the team as one.

“As a club, we can’t wait to collaborate with Cold Town House this coming season. I’d encourage all our fans to utilise their brilliant bar and restaurant facilities on away days – we believe it’s going to be a really fruitful partnership for all connected to the club.”

Nic Wood, owner of Cold Town House, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Edinburgh Rugby this season and to cheering them on in their 22/23 campaign.

“The atmosphere created at DAM Health Stadium is cracking and something we emulate at Cold Town House. We serve up fresh beer, stone-baked pizzas and sharing cocktails; so whether a rugby fan is enjoying a home game pitch-side, or an away game with us, it’s going to be a great experience.”

Join Edinburgh Rugby supporters at Cold Town House this Saturday as Mike Blair’s side look to build on a season-opening win when they face Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria in Round 2 of the BKT URC (24 September, kick-off 1.30pm BST).
