Edinburgh progress to Investec Champions Cup Round of 16

18 Jan 2026

Edinburgh Rugby have officially secured their place in the Round of 16 of the Investec Champions Cup, finishing fourth in Pool 2 to progress to the knockout stages of Europe’s elite competition.

Despite a challenging Friday night at The Rec where Bath Rugby claimed the pool’s top spot with a 63-10 victory, the capital side’s earlier performances at Hive Stadium proved enough to see them through, qualifying for the knockouts for only the sixth time in club history.

Bonus-point wins elsewhere for Castres Olympique at Munster and RC Toulon at Gloucester saw both sides leapfrog Edinburgh in the final standings, but the capital side progresses with 10 points as a best-placed fourth-placed team.

Those vital, maximum-point victories against RC Toulon and Gloucester in front of the home faithful ultimately provided the foundation for qualification.

Fans won’t have to wait long to discover the team’s next destination, with the Round of 16 opponents set to be confirmed later this evening following the conclusion of Glasgow Warriors clash with Saracens at Scotstoun.

Edinburgh are currently poised to face a trip on the road to take on either Leinster or Glasgow Warriors, with the knockout fixtures scheduled to take place on the weekend of 3/4/5 April.

Supporters are encouraged to stay tuned to the club’s website and official social media channels for final confirmation of our Round of 16 opponents as soon as tonight’s results are finalised.
