Everitt: “Our accuracy and execution let us down.”

Get reaction from Head Coach Sean Everitt following Saturday’s night’s narrow defeat to Gloucester at Hive Stadium.

On the loss

“That was bitterly disappointing. A lot of effort went into that game – the players worked extremely hard.

“Unfortunately the accuracy and our execution was not there tonight.

“In the first half we had three opportunities but only converted one. If we had converted a second one I would have been much happier going into the changing room.

“Coming out in the second half our discipline was improved, we gave away two penalties but it is where you give away those penalties and I have spoken about that before. It was just after receiving the kick off we conceded the first one and cost us three points after Ben Healy had kicked a penalty.

“We just did not get away from them on the scoreboard and that was the issue for me and we also conceded 20 turnovers which is unacceptable.”

On his emotions after the loss

“I am disappointed, I wouldn’t say angry. As I have said before the players are putting so much effort in but the accuracy was not there.

“We had a good week of preparation but credit to Gloucester. They went hard at our breakdown and hard at our lineout. Those three lineouts we lost in the second half were pretty crucial to the scoreboard.

On a ‘bittersweet day’ after signing a new contract

“Very much so, but it is not about me. I am looking forward to the next two years at Edinburgh.

“They are a great bunch of lads and quick learners.

“For us it is about getting back to the drawing board, preparing for Scarlets and getting ready for next Friday night. We need to get five points at Scarlets and that will get us through.”
