Men’s and women’s teams to share the spotlight at Season Awards
Edinburgh Rugby is gearing up for a night of celebration this Saturday as the club hosts its annual Season Awards at the prestigious Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC).
Saturday night will have a historic twist, however, as for the very first time, the event will not only acknowledge the achievements of the men’s team, but also shine a light on the remarkable journey of the club’s women’s team.
Having secured a well-deserved second place finish in the recent Celtic Challenge competition, the women’s squad will be in line to receive two awards on the night, with both a Players’ Player of the Year and It’s Good 2 Give Player of the Year up for grabs.
Members of the women’s squad will also be up for winning the ‘Our Burgh Community Award’, which recognises outstanding outreach and engagement in the club’s supporting regions.
Sitting alongside the men’s awards on the night – which include Breadalbane Pro Academy Player of the Year, Breadalbane Breakthrough Player of the Year, The Caullie Lug, Breadalbane Players’ Player of the Year and Scottish Building Society Player of the Year – it’s set to be an evening of shared celebration for all connected to Edinburgh Rugby.
Edinburgh Rugby women’s team Head Coach Claire Cruikshank has expressed her excitement at the women’s squad being involved in the awards night for the first time.
She said: “This is a massive night for the women’s team, and we’re incredibly excited to be included in the club’s Season Awards night for the first time.
“It’s a fantastic recognition of the hard work and commitment the players have shown throughout the season. We’re looking forward to celebrating our achievements alongside the men’s team and the wider Edinburgh Rugby family.
“This year’s season awards promises to be a night of celebration, acknowledging the efforts of all players and staff across both teams.”
