Muncaster wins Scottish Building Society POTM: February
Back-row Ben Muncaster has today been named Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for February, picking up the fan vote for an impressive month in the capital.
Muncaster played a starring role in his side’s bonus-point away win against Munster in Cork, and his form was rewarded with a Guinness Six Nations debut at the Stade de France on Saturday night.
The North Berwick man enjoyed an all-action display against Munster, impressing on both sides of the ball in his injury comeback. A try assist for Ross Thompson’s score caught the eye, with his 20 tackles at a 100% success rate keeping the Munster men at bay.
A ferocious performance showed in his breakdown stats, hitting a whopping 22 rucks throughout the match, supporting the side’s quick ball attack with 15 attacking rucks hit.
On the award, Muncaster said: “It’s been a pretty special few weeks, Munster was awesome, and then to get my Six Nations debut is something that will always be a special moment for me.
“We’re now into the business end of the season, and that Munster performance was the example of how we have to play on the road to get where we want to be.”
As part of the award Muncaster is able to donate £500 – courtesy of Scottish Building Society – to a charity of their choice from our Main Club Partner’s foundation, with Muncaster choosing the Drylaw Telford Community Association.
The community association contribute to promoting care and support of vulnerable people; minimising isolation, and maximising wellbeing of older adults in the Drylaw community.
