One change for Treviso trip

21 Mar 2025

Head Coach Sean Everitt has made one change to the Edinburgh starting line-up to face Benetton Rugby at Stadio Monigo tomorrow afternoon (22 March, 3pm kick-off) – live on Premier Sports.

Flanker Hamish Watson is the only change to the side that beat Munster in Cork, replacing the injured Luke Crosbie (pec) in the capital back-row.

The familiar starting line-up has fresh impetus on the bench in the form of young trio of flanker Freddy Douglas, stand-off Cammy Scott, and full-back Jack Brown all named in the replacements – the latter of whom is in line for a potential debut for his hometown club.

On the match, Everitt said: “The Munster performance has set the standard for how we need to play away from home, and we’ll need to play like that against Benetton on Saturday.

“It’s great to have some of our younger guys in the replacements. Cammy Scott ran the game well against Saracens, while Freddy and Jack have both impressed for Scotland U20 – they’ve earned their spots in the squad and I’m excited to see the impact they can bring.”

Matt Currie and Ross McCann are once again named on the wings, either side of ever-present full-back Wes Goosen.

The midfield partnership remains unchanged, with James Lang starting at outside centre alongside Mosese Tuipulotu.

Ben Vellacott skippers the side from scrum-half having this week penned a new two-year deal to stay in the capital, partnering fly-half Ross Thompson.

In the pack, Ewan Ashman starts having featured for Scotland at the Stade de France, in-between prop duo of Boan Venter (loosehead) and Paul Hill (tighthead).

Marshall Sykes starts at lock having made his Guinness Six Nation’s debut at the weekend, again partnered with fellow Scotland international Sam Skinner.

Watson is the sole personnel change in the back row, with Scottish Building Society Player of the Month Ben Muncaster shifting to blindside flanker and Magnus Bradbury retaining the number eight jersey.
