Premiership recap: Round 4

24 Sep 2024

Edinburgh Rugby players made significant contributions to their respective teams in the latest round of the Arnold Clark Men's Premiership.

Watsonians Dominate

Back-row Connor Boyle led the charge for Watsonians, playing a full 80 minutes and delivering a dominant performance. His powerful carries and leadership were instrumental in the team’s 45-5 victory over Edinburgh Accies at Myreside.

Scrum-half Conor McAlpine added pace and flair to the game, scoring a try from 50 metres out and setting up Sam Leweni for a try. Leweni himself worked hard to be involved, capitalising on McAlpine’s offload to score. Unfortunately, Ollie Duncan was forced off for Edinburgh Accies early due to injury.

Hawick battle against Currie Chieftains

Mikey Jones, Rob Carmichael, Hector Patterson, and Jack Hocking all played key roles for Hawick in their narrow 36-31 defeat against Currie Chieftains.

Jones and Carmichael provided strong carries and physicality, while Patterson and Hocking were threats with ball in hand.

Kelso run Hawks close

Liam McConnell and Isaac Coates were standout performers for Kelso in their 37-33 defeat to Glasgow Hawks.

McConnell was highly involved in a physical performance up front, while Coates moved the ball well and was strong in defense, including a crucial try-saving tackle. Nairn Moncrieff, however, was unfortunately sent off for a tip tackle.

Heriots triumph

Cammy Scott was influential in attack for Heriots, carrying to the line and creating opportunities.

Lewis Wells made a massive impact off the bench, scoring a try and creating another. Hamish MacArthur helped to see out the win for Heriots.

Melrose beat Musselburgh

Findlay Thomson put in big defensive shift for Musselburgh despite the 13-51 defeat to Melrose.

Jerry Blyth-Lafferty was a standout performer for Melrose, scoring a hat trick and making a significant impact both sides of the ball. Harris Morris split between hooker and back-row and was a standout player for the Greenyards side alongside Blyth-Lafferty.
