Scott to become centurion against Ospreys

Scotland internationalist Matt Scott is set to become Edinburgh Rugby’s 43rd centurion when he makes his 100th appearance for the club tomorrow afternoon against the Ospreys at Dunraven Brewery Field (Saturday 26 October, kick-off 3pm) – live on Premier Sports.

The inside-centre reaches the milestone in a third stint for his boyhood club, having returned from spells in the Gallagher Premiership with Gloucester Rugby and latterly Leicester Tigers.

The Scotland cap debuted in 2011 to become Edinburgh player #1148, making his first appearance alongside club legends Grant Gilchrist and Hamish Watson, the latter of whom also starts against the Ospreys on Saturday.

On the match, Head Coach Sean Everitt said: “We know it will be a tough match this weekend. Ospreys are good at home and will come after us, so we know what to expect.

“I’m very happy for Matt and his achievement. He’s a proud Edinburgh man, and embodies everything we want to see in this team, bringing physicality and determination every time he takes to the field.”

Scotland cap Harry Paterson comes into the starting lineup at full-back for his first appearance of the season, with Wes Goosen shifting to wing alongside Duhan van der Merwe.

Scott is partnered by Matt Currie in the midfield – the young centre having just been named in the Scotland squad for the upcoming Famous Grouse Nations Series.

Ben Vellacott skippers the side from scrum-half, starting alongside Ross Thompson in the halves.

In the front row, Boan Venter and D’arcy Rae once again start at loosehead and tighthead respectively, either side of hooker Ewan Ashman who returns to the starting lineup.

Jamie Hodgson and Marshall Sykes start at lock together for the first time this season, having both featured in every match so far this season.

British & Irish Lion Hamish Watson returns to the capital back-row, donning the seven jersey alongside the returning Jamie Ritchie (blindside) and Ben Muncaster (number eight) – another of Edinburgh’s uncapped call ups to the Scotland call-up.

In the replacements, Dave Cherry, Angus Williams and Glen Young all make their returns from injury, while scrum-half Charlie Shiel is in-line for his first minutes of the campaign.
