Squad update
Edinburgh Rugby today issued the following squad update ahead of the forthcoming Scottish Building Society Pre-Season Series fixtures against Connacht (Friday 29 September) and Bath Rugby (Friday 6 October) at Hive Stadium.
Centre James Lang (calf) and stand-off Tim Swiel (ankle) are expected to miss both pre-season fixtures after picking up injuries in training.
Marshall Sykes (hand) is also expected to be unavailable for both games as he works back from an injury sustained in training. Luan de Bruin (back) and Dave Cherry (concussion) will also miss both warm-up fixtures as they progress towards a return in BKT URC Round 1.
Ben Muncaster (knee) is progressing well in his rehab, while Harry Paterson (ankle) has returned to light training and the club is hopeful of his availability in the coming weeks.
GB Rugby Sevens back-three duo Ross McCann and Jordan Edmunds have both linked up with the squad and are available for the upcoming pre-season fixtures at Hive Stadium.
Elsewhere, the club continues to work collaboratively with FOSROC Super Series clubs, with tighthead props Bobby Bratton (Watsonians) and Craig Miller (Ayrshire Bulls), lock Alfie Scopes (Watsonians), centre Matt Davidson and full-back Liam Richman (both Heriot’s Rugby) all training with the senior squad and available for selection against Connacht.
The club would also like to thank hooker Corey Tait (Boroughmuir Bears), back-row Ben Smith, winger Lewis Wells (both Heriot’s Rugby), wing Aidan Cross and centre/wing Calum Barrett (both Southern Knights) for their hard work and effort during their time at the club, with all players now back at their respective FOSROC Super Series teams.
