Edinburgh Rugby to support Doddie Aid Britannia Regatta

Edinburgh Rugby is supporting this Saturday’s Doddie Aid Britannia Regatta with those taking part in the charity event set to attend this weekend’s unmissable BKT URC match-up against Cell C Sharks at DAM Health Stadium (28 January, kick-off 5.15pm).

A number of former Edinburgh Rugby players are taking part in the charity rowing event – including Jim Hamilton, Chris Paterson and Rory Lawson – which will see celebrity teams go head-to-head on The Royal Yacht Britannia.

Those celebs and Doddie Aid fundraisers will then head for DAM Health Stadium where they’ll be on hand to cheer on Edinburgh Rugby in a can’t-miss clash with South African side Cell C Sharks.

Supporters are encouraged to get along and support the event which starts at 10am. Pre-booking is essential with tickets available to purchase here.

All ticket sales at The Royal Yacht Britannia that day are being donated to Doddie Aid, so the more people attending, the better!

Supporters will then get the chance to hear from one of those celebs taking part in the event, with a live Q&A planned in the Supporters Clubhouse ahead of Saturday night’s Cell C Sharks clash.

What’s the Regatta Challenge?

It’s simple, see how far you can row in three hours! For added motivation, Doddie Aid will have a live leaderboard and live stream showing how the various teams of celebrities on The Royal Yacht Britannia are getting on so you can challenge yourself against them too.

There will be prizes for the winning team and you can compete in teams of up to 8 people (or individually if you’d like a real workout!).

How do I take part?

The row is virtual but there’s a couple of different ways you can take part:

Jump on any rowing machine, and row constantly for 3 hours at any stage during the Doddie Aid Britannia weekend. Once you’ve completed this , you must submit your miles and details using our mileage submission form here so that they can determine the winners.

PLEASE NOTE: the winner will be asked for proof so please have a photo of your machine’s stats ready. As above, you can take part and submit your efforts at any point during the weekend.

Alternatively, if you have a Concept 2 rowing machine, you can join the ‘Live 25’. This will insert you directly into the live race leaderboard and your efforts will be visible to everyone tuning into the live stream.

If this is of interest, please email info@myname5doddie.co.uk telling us a little bit about yourself/your club. Further information and links will be provided to closer to the time. Please note, you will require good internet connection.
