Wolfenden returns to lead Edinburgh-heavy Scotland U20s against England

11 Feb 2026

Edinburgh Rugby’s rising stars are set to take centre stage at Hive Stadium this Friday night as Head Coach Fergus Pringle names a side featuring 10 of the club’s academy players for the 2026 U20 Six Nations home opener against England U20 (kick-off 7.15pm).

In a major boost for the squad, Edinburgh’s own Ross Wolfenden returns to captain the side from inside centre after recovering from a head injury, providing vital leadership as the team looks to build on their clinical Round 1 victory over Italy.

The home turf will feel familiar for a starting XV packed with local talent, including Jamie Stewart, who displays his impressive versatility by shifting from tighthead to start at loosehead.

He joins fellow Edinburgh front-rower Ollie Blyth-Lafferty, while the engine room is bolstered by the inclusion of Christian Lindsay in the second row.

The capital’s influence extends deep into the back row with Sam Byrd and Jack Utterson both retaining their spots to provide grit at the breakdown.

Behind the scrum, Hamish MacArthur continues his partnership at half-back, feeding an Edinburgh-heavy backline that sees Henry Widdowson at full-back and the dangerous duo of Nairn Moncrieff and Rory McHaffie patrolling the wings.

After a statement win in Treviso, these young guns are now primed to bring that momentum back to Edinburgh for one of the biggest fixtures in the age-grade calendar.

Fans can catch all the action live at Hive Stadium or follow the match on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
