Graham returns for European opener

British and Irish Lions winger Darcy Graham has recovered from injury to be selected for tomorrow night’s EPCR Challenge Cup clash against RC Toulon at Hive Stadium (Friday 16 October, kick-off 8pm) – live on Premier Sports

The winger returns from a bicep injury to earn his first minutes of the season, as Edinburgh welcome the French giants to the capital for a second year in a row.

Graham is one of two changes to the side that beat Zebre Parma away from home last weekend, with flanker Tom Currie moving into the starting lineup for the first time this season.

Club double-centurion Grant Gilchrist also returns from injury, and moves into the replacements for his first minutes of the campaign.

On the match, Head Coach Sean Everitt said: “The energy around the squad this week has been great, as we move into our first European match of the season.

“Toulon are a huge club, and with a big crowd expected at Hive Stadium we can’t wait to get stuck into the match in front of our home fans.

“Toulon bring with them a huge pedigree in Europe, and we know the challenge that will bring, but we’re excited to meet that challenge head on.”

Graham is the sole personnel change in the back-three, with Malelili Satala shifting to the left-wing, and full-back Piers O’Conor remaining ever-present in the capital starting line-up.

Co-captain Matt Currie once against starts at outside-centre with Mosese Tuipulotu in the twelve jersey, with Everitt naming an unchanged half-back pairing of Hector Patterson (scrum-half) and James Grayson (fly-half).

Everitt has selected an unchanged front-row, with Ewan Ashman starting at hooker alongside Pierre Schoeman and Ollie Blyth-Lafferty at loosehead and tighthead prop respectively.

Callum Hunter-Hill and Glen Young start together at lock for the fourth match in a row, with co-captain Magnus Bradbury (number-eight) and Freddy Douglas (openside flanker) joining Currie in the back-row.
