Round 2: Emirates Lions

Edinburgh Rugby host South African side Emirates Lions on Saturday 28 October (kick-off 7.35pm) in the club’s highly anticipated 2023/24 home opener.

It will have been 196 days since Edinburgh last ran out at home in the URC (vs Ospreys, Sat 15 April) and the Burgh faithful will be hoping for a repeat result, with the capital club claiming an emphatic 45-21 victory against the Welsh region on ‘Fan Appreciation Night’ in EH12.

When it comes to match-ups with South African sides, Edinburgh most definitely ‘owe one’ to the Emirates Lions, with the capital side now 0 from 2 when going up against the Johannesburg outfit.

The Lions squeaked a 19-22 victory on their last visit to the Scottish capital. The home crowd will be expecting both a reaction and performance to match the occasion for what is set to be another massive night of rugby in Round 2 of the URC.

Round 9: Glasgow Warriors

One of world rugby’s biggest derbies returns to BT Murrayfield on Saturday 30 December as age old rivals Edinburgh and Glasgow go head-to-head for intercity bragging rights.

When it comes to the 1872 Cup, not much further explanation is needed. Over 150 years of rivalry. The country’s only two professional teams. One trophy and whole lot of bad blood.

Glasgow are, unfortunately, the current holders of the famous silverware – which was revamped last year to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the fixture – and Edinburgh will be more than eager to see the silverware return east in 2023/24.

With the second leg taking place at BT Murrayfield just a day before Hogmanay – and at the ever-popular kick-off time of 3pm – the city will be jumping for both New Year celebrations and the return of the now famous intercity rugby rivalry. Bring it on…

Round 17: Munster

The reigning BKT United Rugby Championship Champions return to EH12 on Friday 17 May for the penultimate regular season league clash of 2023/24, and Edinburgh’s final home match-up.

When it comes to travelling support, not many teams can match the Munster fan’s sheer passion for backing their team on the road, giving this fixture a real edge in what could be massive for final league standings.

Munster are Champions for a reason, but with the potential for so much being on the line in this end-of-season clash, there’s no doubt the Edinburgh squad will be fired up to protect home advantage.

As far as final home games go, they don’t get much better, or bigger.
