Scottish Building Society backs Edinburgh Rugby women’s team
Edinburgh Rugby is delighted to announce Scottish Building Society as the new front-of-shirt sponsor of the club’s women’s team.
Scottish Building Society – who have been Edinburgh Rugby’s Main Club Partner since 2021 – has taken this step to further its commitment to the club and the growth of women’s rugby in Scotland.
This expanded partnership will see Scottish Building Society’s logo proudly displayed on the front of Edinburgh Rugby women’s team Macron playing shirts for the upcoming Celtic Challenge campaign, which kicks against Glasgow Warriors at Hive Stadium this Friday night (20 December, 7.35pm).
Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, Douglas Struth, said: “We’re thrilled to announce Scottish Building Society as the front-of-shirt sponsor of our women’s team. They’re truly part of the fabric of the club, and this expanded partnership is a testament to their commitment to supporting rugby at all levels in Scotland
“This is a significant moment for our women’s team, and we’re excited to see them continue to grow and develop with the support of Scottish Building Society. Their backing reinforces our shared values of inclusivity and excellence.”
Scottish Building Society has been a key supporter of the club’s community initiatives, including the popular ‘Tackle Maths’ educational programme, the Player of the Month award – which has seen over £13,000 raised for local causes and charities as part of the initiative – as well as a series of inclusive rugby festivals.
This expanded partnership further solidifies the society’s dedication to the club and its mission to inspire and engage the next generation of rugby players.
Scottish Building Society Chief Executive Officer, Paul Denton said: “Having been main sponsor of Edinburgh Rugby for three years now, we’re thrilled to extend our support to the women’s team. It’ll be exciting to see our name on shirts as they kick off the new season.
“Our partnership with Edinburgh Rugby extends beyond that of main sponsor of the team and we have launched some brilliant initiatives, including the inclusive rugby festival and our Tackle Maths programme, which is designed help children to learn maths and get active outdoors.
“It’ll be fantastic to get the women’s team involved in this initiative, further reinforcing the message that financial skills and a passion for rugby is open to all.”
Edinburgh Rugby Women’s Team Head Coach Claire Cruikshank, added: “It’s fantastic to have the support of Scottish Building Society as we embark on our second-ever season.
“Their backing is a significant boost for our team and shows the positive trajectory of women’s rugby. We’re excited to represent Scottish Building Society on the pitch as we kick-off the new season this Friday.”
This announcement comes ahead of the start of the 2024/25 Celtic Challenge, with Edinburgh Rugby kicking off their campaign against Glasgow Warriors at Hive Stadium this Friday night (20 December, 7.35pm).
Claire Cruikshank’ side will be looking to build on last year’s hugely impressive inaugural campaign which saw the capital side lose just a single game to finish second overall.
