Can you tell us a bit about the history of Mamma’s Pizza?
Mammas founded in 1985 by 2 Canadian actors Angus and Phil. Angus was Gold Leader in the Original Star Wars movie and reappeared in Rogue One. Mamma’s has had a ‘few firsts’. First home delivery in Edinburgh with alcohol, First online delivery. First in UK to do gluten free pizzas.
What kind of pizzas do you currently offer?
We offer American style pizzas, these are thicker, saucier and have more toppings than an Italian pizza. There are over 4 million different combinations with over 50 different toppings to choose from. Some of the most popular pizzas are: Matador; BBKing; Ndjua Strkies Back; Cheese3PO.
What makes Mamma’s Pizza unique in your respective industry?
We are an American Pizzeria instead of Italian, trading for almost 40 years. We believe no one in Edinburgh offers as much choice or as many GF products.

Always a supporter of grassroots rugby and therefore great to be able to support a young amazing talent.
What do you admire about Freddy as a player and as an individual?
He seems like a quiet assassin. His ability to jackal is world class and clearly is one of the most exciting young players, who will light up Scottish Rugby for years to come.
How does sponsoring Freddy align with your businesses’ values and goals?
Freddy is hardworking and dedicated to being the best player he can be. We try to be the same regarding our staff and products.
Benefits of the Partnership
What benefits has Mamma’s Pizza experienced from sponsoring Freddy?
We hope by sponsoring a new talent like Freddy will raise the profile of youngsters in rugby. We had been a go to place after Scotland internationals for decades. We hope that Edinburgh rugby fans will also make us their go to.
How has this partnership helped to raise awareness of your brand?
We are at the start of the journey with sponsorship but look forward to our brand being more closely associated with Edinburgh Rugby.
Future Goals and Aspirations
What are Mamma’s Pizza future goals and aspirations?
We would like to get Freddy down to the restaurant when available to design a pizza. Perhaps the Freddy Jackel. We propose that £1 of each pizza sold goes to the club’s Official Charity Partner, It’s Good 2 Give.
How do you see the partnership with Edinburgh Rugby evolving in the coming years?
In the coming years we would like to expand our partnership with the youngsters.
