Eight selected for U20 pool finale
Eight of the club’s most promising young players have been selected in the Scotland U20 men's squad to face South Africa U20 this Wednesday in their final World Rugby U20 Championship pool stage match (9 July).
The match, kicking off at 2:30pm BST (3:30pm local) from Stadio San Michele, will be broadcast live on RugbyPassTV.
Head Coach Kenny Murray has made several changes to the Scotland U20 side from last week’s narrow defeat to Australia, providing an excellent opportunity for these Edinburgh prospects to gain invaluable international experience against a strong Junior Boks outfit.
In the starting forward pack, tighthead prop Jamie Stewart earns his first competitive start at U20 level.
The back-row sees two key Edinburgh players lining up, with Oliver Duncan at blindside flanker and the impressive Freddy Douglas once again taking on the captaincy role from openside flanker.
The half-back pairing is an all-Edinburgh affair, with Hector Patterson at scrum-half linking up with stand-off Isaac Coates, showcasing the depth of talent in our academy’s playmaking ranks.
In the back three, Nairn Moncrieff starts on the right wing, while Jack Brown completes the starting XV at full-back.
Further Edinburgh representation is found on the bench, with tighthead prop Ollie Blyth-Lafferty poised to make an impact as a replacement.
