30,000 and counting: 1872 Cup poised for blockbuster finale

21 Dec 2025

World rugby’s oldest derby, the 1872 Cup, is set for another blockbuster finale as supporters once again race to secure their place to witness Edinburgh Rugby take on Glasgow Warriors at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium this Saturday (27 December, kick-off 3pm).

More than 30,000 supporters have already booked their place for the derby decider in the capital, where just 12 points separate the sides after Glasgow Warriors claimed a 24-12 win in yesterday’s opener at Hampden Park, with the silverware settled on the aggregate score in six days’ time.

Last season a record-breaking 40,000-crowd turned out for the finale and fans are snapping up the remaining seats at speed.

Supporters are encouraged to act now to secure the best view and best value seats in the stadium as anticipation intensifies for the inter-city derby.

All tickets purchased online are delivered straight to the Scottish Rugby ticketing app and can be purchased on the day.
