Kick-off against the Cape Town giants is set for 7.45pm, with Sean Everitt’s side facing one of South African rugby’s most formidable outfits in what promises to be a compelling Round 2 encounter under the Hive Stadium lights.
The full 2026/27 URC fixture list will be revealed at 12 noon BST this Tuesday, 19 May.
Edinburgh and the DHL Stormers have met six times since the South African franchise joined the United Rugby Championship in 2021/22, with the Cape side edging the overall record – but Edinburgh’s home form in the fixture tells an encouraging story.
The sides’ first ever meeting ended all square, a 20-20 draw at Hive Stadium in October 2021, before the Stormers – who would go on to be crowned inaugural URC champions that season – won the reverse fixture 28-17 in Cape Town in June 2022.
Edinburgh pushed the Stormers close in 2022/23, only to fall 34-18 in Cape Town, and a 43-21 defeat at DHL Stadium followed in March 2024.
But Edinburgh produced their most emphatic result in the fixture the following October, with a commanding 38-7 bonus-point win at Hive Stadium – one of the standout home performances of Everitt’s tenure.
The most recent meeting came in March 2026, a 33-14 defeat in Cape Town — leaving Edinburgh with plenty of motivation as the Stormers return to EH12 for the first time in two years.
