Edinburgh’s next generation selected for France U20 Test

4 Mar 2026

The future stars of Edinburgh Rugby are set to take centre stage at Hive Stadium this Friday night as Scotland U20 face France U20 in the penultimate round of the 2026 U20 Six Nations.

Head Coach Fergus Pringle has named a matchday squad heavily influenced by the capital club’s academy and pro-ranks, ensuring a strong home presence for the 6.15pm kick-off in the shadow of Scottish Gas Murrayfield.

The backline is anchored by Edinburgh’s Henry Widdowson at full-back, who leads an exciting back-three featuring club-mates Nairn Moncrieff and Rory McHaffie on the wings.

In the pack, powerhouse tighthead Ollie Blyth-Lafferty continues his run in the front row, while the versatile Christian Lindsay moves from the second row to start at blindside flanker, highlighting the physical depth available to the young Scots.

Further Edinburgh representation is found on a powerful 6-2 split bench, with prop Jamie Stewart, back-row Sam Byrd, and utility back Hamish MacArthur all poised to make an impact as finishers.

The fixture marks a crucial moment in the tournament, providing the capital’s rising talent the opportunity to test themselves against one of the world’s premier age-grade sides on their own home turf.

Supporters are encouraged to get behind the team at Hive Stadium for what promises to be a high-octane Friday night encounter.

For those unable to attend, the match will be broadcast live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
