Can you tell us a bit about yourself, your business, and the journey that brought you here?

My name is Nagin Lad, and my wife is Savita Lad. We’ve been passionate rugby fans since the early 1980s. I’m a retired accountant and former university lecturer, and Savita is a qualified childcare professional and florist. Together, we run Savpen Properties Ltd, specialising in property management and investment.

We first sponsored James Whitcombe during his time at Leicester Tigers and wanted to continue supporting him as he embarks on his exciting new journey with Edinburgh Rugby.

What makes your business unique, and what values are most important to you?

We’re a family-run business that operates on strong family values. Integrity and ethics are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in minimising risk, taking a long-term approach, and building sustainable growth over time.

What inspired you to support this player as a sponsor?

We recognised James’s potential when he was progressing through the Leicester Tigers Academy, and we were proud to be his first sponsors. We wanted to show our support for a young, developing player. Over time, we got to know his parents, Martin and Carron, who share the same family values we hold dear.

When James moved to Edinburgh Rugby, we felt it was important to continue supporting him and to show fans and the club that he’s a player who will never let them down. He always takes time to engage with supporters – especially young fans – which is vital for the future of rugby.

In what ways does the player reflect qualities or values that resonate with your business?

James is hardworking, humble, polite, and committed. He always gives 100% on and off the pitch. His willingness to listen, learn, and constantly improve – combined with his strong family values – aligns perfectly with the way we approach our own business.

What do you admire most about the player, both in their sporting career and as an individual?

We admire James’s dedication, resilience, and drive to keep improving. These qualities mirror the principles we apply at Savpen Properties Ltd – working diligently, striving for excellence, and maintaining integrity in everything we do.

How do you hope this sponsorship will benefit your business?

Supporting James and Edinburgh Rugby has been an exciting opportunity. It’s allowed us to network with other like-minded businesses and raise our brand’s profile among a wider audience.

Since our projects are highly personal and bespoke, this visibility helps us start meaningful conversations with potential clients.

What are your hopes for the future of this sponsorship and your relationship with the player and Edinburgh Rugby?

This sponsorship marks our first venture outside England, and we see it as a chance to connect with the Scottish business community. Looking ahead, we hope to see James represent Scotland and help Edinburgh Rugby achieve success.
