Scottish Building Society back ‘Club Appreciation Night’ with local school ticketing initiative
Edinburgh Rugby’s Main Club Partner Scottish Building Society have got behind the capital side’s ‘Club Appreciation Night’ community initiative by providing tickets and transport to pupils from Gala Academy for the Friday night fixture against Emirates Lions at DAM Health Stadium.
Scottish Building Society will bus the full class of Gala Academy students to the United Rugby Championship match-up in the Scottish capital which will see the Edinburgh players pull on the socks of their boyhood clubs as part of a wider celebration of the grassroots game.
Scottish Building Society Chief Executive Officer Paul Denton said: “Club Appreciation Night is one of the highlights of the Edinburgh Rugby calendar and really puts into perspective the role of youth and amateur rugby clubs across the country.
“People aren’t always aware of the number of club heroes who attend the event. Volunteers from clubs across the country are invited along and celebrated for their contribution to the game – it’s great to give back to these unsung heroes of rugby.
“Despite only entering its second season, it’s already one of my favourite days of the season at DAM Health Stadium. Grassroots rugby is the lifeblood of the sport and Scottish Building Society along with Edinburgh Rugby are delighted to play our part in celebrating this wonderful game.”
Edinburgh have rolled out a number of club-focussed ticketing initiatives for the Friday night contest, including a group ticketing offer providing 10% off for groups of 10 or over, as well as a club commission initiative, which offers 20% cashback to any local club or team purchasing tickets.
The Gala Academy pupils will get the opportunity to cheer on fellow Borderers Darcy Graham (Hawick RFC) and Glen Young (Jed-Forest RFC) as Edinburgh take on Emirates Lions in a can’t miss URC contest.
With a Scottish Building Society branch situated in Galashiels, the club appreciation ticketing initiative is part of Scottish Building Society’s continued support of their local communities and follows on from the recently launched ‘Win a Training Session with Darcy Graham’ social competition, with a new ‘Tackle Maths’ community initiative coming soon.
Denton continued: “Our local Galashiels relationship centre is active within the community and as part of our sponsorship with Edinburgh Rugby they wanted to give something back to Gala Academy who do a huge amount for the town.
“Complimentary tickets and travel have been arranged for the match against Emirates Lions as a thank you for all the club do for the community.
“Given it’s club appreciation night, our staff wanted to ensure that the volunteers and children could have a great experience and see how much the town appreciates all they do.
“Scottish Building Society is delighted to welcome the club along to enjoy a night out at the DAM Health Stadium.”
