Arnold Clark MG drives Edinburgh Rugby’s Our Burgh Summer Sessions

22 Jul 2025

Edinburgh Rugby is delighted to announce Arnold Clark MG as the proud new sponsor of the club's Our Burgh Summer Sessions, a series of community engagement visits kicking off this week with trips to local clubs Currie and Dalkeith.

This exciting sponsorship sees Arnold Clark MG, the club’s Official Automotive Dealer Partner, provide Edinburgh Rugby with a brand-new MG vehicle specifically for the club’s thriving community team.

This essential transport will support their numerous outreach programmes and initiatives across the region, ensuring the team can continue to deliver impactful grassroots rugby experiences.

In a further show of support for local rugby, Arnold Clark MG’s local branches will also provide a small number of the clubs visited during the sessions with much-needed kit, reinforcing their commitment to the development of the sport at all levels.

The Our Burgh Summer Sessions exemplify Edinburgh Rugby’s dedication to grassroots rugby, directly connecting professional players with local clubs across their supporting regions throughout the off-season.

Throughout July, August and early September, Edinburgh Rugby players will be out and about, sharing their expertise and passion for the game with aspiring young players.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth expressed his gratitude for the partnership:

“We are incredibly thankful to Arnold Clark MG for their fantastic support of the ‘Our Burgh Summer Sessions.’

“This initiative is vital for us to connect with and inspire young rugby players across our community, and the provision of a dedicated MG vehicle for our community team is a game-changer.

“It will significantly enhance our ability to reach more aspiring players and deliver our outreach programmes efficiently. The additional support with kit for local clubs is also hugely appreciated and will make a real difference to the grassroots game.”

This sponsorship builds upon the existing two-and-a-half-year partnership between Edinburgh Rugby and Arnold Clark, the UK’s leading independently owned car retailer.

Established in 1954, Arnold Clark has grown into one of the most recognisable and respected brands across the UK, boasting over 200 dealerships nationwide and selling more than 300,000 cars annually.

The Arnold Clark MG logo is also proudly displayed on the back of the men’s team’s official home and alternate Macron match shorts.

Gavin McKenzie, Group Brand Director at Arnold Clark MG, said: ‘We believe in the power of sport at Arnold Clark MG, so we’re delighted to support Edinburgh Rugby with transport as they carry out this important work.

“It’s amazing to see these star players giving something back to local communities and promoting enjoyment of the game, and we’re delighted to play some small part in inspiring the next generation of players.”
