Edinburgh Trams partnership rolls on for 2025/26 Season

18 Nov 2025

Edinburgh Trams will continue to connect fans to Edinburgh Rugby matchdays after extending its commitment as the club's Community Impact Partner for the 2025/26 season.

The continued collaboration sees Edinburgh Trams remain a key supporter of the club, promoting sustainable travel, while extending their player sponsorship of stand-off, Ross Thompson.

Since its launch in 2014, the Edinburgh Trams service has played a vital role in connecting fans from across the city to the home of Edinburgh Rugby and Scottish Rugby.

The Murrayfield stop consistently ranks as one of the most used in Edinburgh, providing seamless and sustainable access to Hive Stadium.

The 2025/26 season will see Edinburgh Trams further engage with supporters on match days. They will activate in the Hive Stadium Fan Zone, where they will be selling tickets to make it easier than ever for fans to travel home from matches, all while promoting a crucial sustainability message.

As a Community Impact Partner, Edinburgh Trams will also continue to support the club’s community programmes, including the important ‘Tickets to Inspire’ initiative.

This programme is aimed at bringing the excitement of the 1872 Cup to local charities across Edinburgh. Over 20 charities – covering causes such as homelessness, social housing, veteran support, food inequality, and youth work – will receive complimentary tickets to the highly anticipated 1872 Cup clash against Glasgow Warriors at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Saturday 27 December (kick-off 3pm).

Developed in collaboration with the City of Edinburgh Council and Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations Council (EVOC), this initiative aims to inspire and uplift individuals from all backgrounds with the unique opportunity to experience a major rugby event.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, Douglas Struth, commented on the renewal: “It’s hugely important for Edinburgh Rugby to continue our relationship with Edinburgh Trams, especially as we share a commitment to promoting sustainability and providing supporters with green transport options to get to Hive Stadium.

“The tram service has been an incredible asset to the club and our fans over the years, making match day access so smooth and easy. It’s fantastic that Edinburgh Trams will be visible in the fan zone this year, making it even simpler for people to ‘Try the Tram’ for their journey home.

“We are also extremely grateful that they continue to back our crucial community initiatives, such as ‘Tickets to Inspire’, which ensures we can share the thrill of our biggest matches with local charities and those who truly deserve it. To have them also continue their sponsorship of local talent in Ross Thompson further demonstrates their commitment to the club at all levels.”

Becky Love, Marketing & Communications Manager at Edinburgh Trams, said: “We’re really pleased to continue this Community Impact Partnership into the 2025/2026 season, along with our sponsorship of Ross. We’re proud to offer an environmentally friendly, sustainable transport option for rugby fans to get right to the gates of Hive Stadium, and the partnership with Edinburgh Rugby benefits our colleagues and customers alike.

“This year, we’re encouraging more people to Try the tram to Hive Stadium to see the team in action throughout the season, and we’ll be selling tickets in the stadium itself to make it easier than ever to glide home after match night.”
