DAM Health Stadium confirmed as match venue for Castres

16 Dec 2022

DAM Health Stadium has been confirmed as the match venue for tomorrow afternoon’s Heineken Champions Cup clash against Castres Olympique (Saturday 17 December, kick-off 1pm).

Following extensive work from Scottish Rugby ground staff throughout the week the pitch remains playable with the Edinburgh Rugby squad taking part in an active team run on the playing surface earlier today.

Edinburgh Rugby take on the French Top 14 runners-up tomorrow afternoon in the first-ever Heineken Champions Cup match to be played at DAM Health Stadium.

With the club’s recently constructed home now confirmed as the match venue and a full afternoon of festive activities lined-up for ‘The Big Christmas Day Out’ fixture, Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth has thanked ground staff for their work in ensuring the pitch remains playable, while encouraging supporters to pack out DAM Health Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

He said: “We’re absolutely delighted DAM Health Stadium has been given the green light to host its first Heineken Champions Cup game tomorrow.

“The grounds team here have done a phenomenal and tireless job on the pitch all week to get us to place where the team could train safely this afternoon and, with the weather set to be more favourable from here into the weekend, we can now put our contingency plans aside and look forward to a special day at DAM Health Stadium.”

He added: “My sincere thanks go to the grounds team in particular for all their work this week.

“It’s set to be a brilliant afternoon of European rugby – I’d all encourage all our fans to get along and support the team as Heineken Champions Cup rugby returns to the Scottish capital.”
