The side heads to the Borders with an exciting blend of senior, academy and grassroots talent, with a number of players set to pull on the Edinburgh jersey for the first time.

Senior forwards Harri Morris and Jerry Blyth-Lafferty are named in the group. Charlie Shiel captains the side and is joined in the backs by Cammy Scott and Malelili Satala.

Academy duo Ross McKnight and Fin Doyle also feature, alongside grassroots players Adam Williamson (NTP/Heriot’s), Hugo Alderson (NTP/Selkirk RFC), Angus Robson (NTP/George Watson’s College) and Mason Cullen (Ampthill RFC).

Edinburgh open their tournament against Stirling County at 12 noon, with a potential second-round tie against Selkirk RFC to follow should they progress.

Edinburgh Rugby Sevens Coach Craig Dods said: “Melrose Sevens is one of the most iconic tournaments in rugby, and The Greenyards is a very special place to play. It’s a great opportunity for these players to pull on the Edinburgh jersey in that environment.

“We have a real mix of senior and academy players alongside guys joining us from a number of amateur clubs, and that blend is what makes this group so excitingl. Everyone is looking forward to getting out there – they can’t wait for that first tie.”

Edinburgh Rugby’s ties will be broadcast live on the NextGenLive YouTube channel.
