Familiar foes await Edinburgh in Pool 2. Last season’s English Gallagher Premiership and EPCR Challenge Cup Champions, Bath, are set for a compelling rematch. The two sides last met in the semi-finals of last season’s Challenge Cup, with Bath emerging victorious 24-39 in a thrilling encounter at a capacity Hive Stadium.

The draw also rekindles a memorable rivalry with RC Toulon. Edinburgh famously clashed with the French giants in the 2018/19 Champions Cup, securing impressive home and away victories.

The 28-17 triumph at Stade Felix-Mayol remains etched in the memory of Edinburgh fans, highlighted by Bill Mata’s unforgettable offload leading to James Johnstone’s try, securing a famous victory on French soil.

Castres Olympique and Gloucester are also familiar opponents for Edinburgh supporters. Sean Everitt’s side faced the Kingsholm outfit in both the 2023/24 and 2024/25 EPCR Challenge Cup campaigns. Edinburgh also took on Castres Olympique in 2022/23 and 2023/24, notably securing a famous Investec Champions Cup away win against the French side in January 2023.

Edinburgh Rugby Head Coach Sean Everitt expressed his excitement for the challenge ahead: “It’s really special to be stepping back up into the Investec Champions Cup. This is where we want to be, testing ourselves against the very best in European rugby.

“We’ve been drawn in a really exciting pool with some fantastic teams. Facing English champions Bath again in a rematch of last year’s European semi-final knockout is going to be a massive test, and then you’ve got RC Toulon and Castres Olympique, both top French clubs with rich European history. While Gloucester too are familiar opponents and a side we also relish going up against.

“It’s always great getting the chance to face teams from different leagues and testing yourselves against the best players in European rugby. We’re really looking forward to the challenge.”

The pool stage fixtures will take place on the following dates:

  • Round 1: 5/6/7 December 2025
  • Round 2: 12/13/14 December 2025
  • Round 3: 9/10/11 January 2026
  • Round 4: 16/17/18 January 2026
