Scottish Building Society extends partnership to 2027 in historic deal

Edinburgh Rugby is delighted to announce a significant two-year extension of its Main Club Partnership with Scottish Building Society, continuing a successful relationship that will now run until the end of the 2026/27 season. This new deal makes Scottish Building Society the longest-standing front-of-shirt sponsor in the club’s history.

The renewed agreement continues to be the largest sponsorship deal in the history of both organisations and solidifies Scottish Building Society’s position as the front-of-shirt sponsor for all match kit.

The iconic Scottish Building Society logo will continue to feature on the club’s Macron home and alternate shirts, with the 2025/26 jerseys set to be worn for the first time in tomorrow’s Scottish Building Society pre-season double-header against Doncaster Knights and Ealing Trailfinders at Hive Stadium.

Scottish Building Society’s commitment to the club extends to all levels, as they will once again be the front-of-shirt sponsor for the club’s women’s team, who kick-off their Celtic Challenge campaign later this year.

This pivotal backing, which began last season, is a clear demonstration of the ‘one club’ philosophy and a shared commitment to growing the game. The sponsorship ensures the women’s team has the resources needed to compete and thrive, with the Scottish Building Society logo proudly displayed on the front of their kit.

This partnership, which began with a back-of-shirt deal in 2020 and grew to the Main Club Partnership in May 2021, is built on a shared commitment to community.

Scottish Building Society has, and continues to be, a key supporter of the club’s community initiatives, including Tackle Maths, annual inclusive and walking touch festivals – the most recent of which was the largest of its kind ever held in Scotland – as well as backing the Edinburgh Inclusive Rugby Team (EIRT).

The hugely successful Tackle Maths programme, launched in 2023, has already engaged nearly 1,000 schoolchildren. The Curriculum for Excellence associated initiative uses rugby and real-life examples to demonstrate the importance of practical maths skills, with challenges ranging from measuring the Hive Stadium pitch to calculating stadium capacity.

Another hugely popular community initiative backed by Scottish Building Society is the ‘win a training session’ competition.

This programme has regularly attracted hundreds of entries from rugby clubs across the country, with the most recent competition providing a memorable experience for boys and girls teams, who were coached by British & Irish Lions stars Duhan van der Merwe and Pierre Schoeman.

In addition to their community work, Scottish Building Society also sponsors the club’s Player of the Month initiative, which has so far raised over £15,000 for local charities and causes since 2021.

The donations are often directed to causes close to the players’ hearts, with a powerful example being Darcy Graham’s decision to donate his £500 prize to the Scottish Ambulance Service, in recognition of the pivotal role they played in saving his brother’s life.

Douglas Struth, Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, said: “This partnership extension with Scottish Building Society is a huge moment for our club. Their support has become part of the fabric of Edinburgh Rugby, and this new agreement is a significant show of faith that will help secure our future for the seasons to come.

“Scottish Building Society is so much more than a sponsor; they are a true partner at the very heart of our community programmes. From the brilliant success of our flagship Tackle Maths programme to their sponsorship of our inclusive team and subsequent festivals, their backing allows us to make a real, positive impact far beyond the pitch.

“We are incredibly proud to have a partner who shares our values and is dedicated to helping us grow the game, from grassroots up to the professional level. Their continued support of our women’s team, in particular, is hugely important as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible as one club.”

Paul Denton, Scottish Building Society CEO, said: “Since becoming Main Club Partner in 2021, our relationship with Edinburgh Rugby has grown in scale, depth and purpose. What began as a logo on a shirt has become a partnership rooted in shared values – inclusion, community, and ambition.

“We’re proud to support both the men’s and women’s teams, and to invest in programmes that make a real difference across Scotland. This extension reflects our belief in the club, its people, and the positive impact rugby can have far beyond the pitch.”
