Trio called up to Barbarians squad
9 Jun 2026Edinburgh Rugby trio Duhan van der Merwe, Liam McConnell and D'Arcy Rae have all been called into the Barbarians squad for their 2026 summer tour.
The famous invitational side have selected the three Edinburgh players for back-to-back fixtures against two of the world’s top nations this month.
The Baa Baas face world champions South Africa at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday 20 June, before travelling to Twickenham to take on Wales in a men’s and women’s double-header at Allianz Stadium on Saturday 27 June.
The Barbarians are coached this summer by a star-studded international quartet — former All Blacks head coach Scott Robertson, Los Pumas head coach Felipe Contepomi, Racing 92’s Patrice Collazo and Argentina assistant Kenny Lynn — with players selected from across the globe.
