Edinburgh give back with Our Burgh Community Day
The Edinburgh Rugby squad will be out and about in the local community this Thursday (8 December) as part of an ‘Our Burgh’ Community Day allowing players to give back to schools and clubs who’ve supported the capital side throughout 2022.
Players will be taking part in a mix of community sessions, Q&As and class visits with Edinburgh players visiting five different venues throughout the day of outreach.
The community day begins at Craigentinny Primary School as Jamie Hodgson, Nick Haining and Ben Vellacott take on a rugby session and Q&A, before Emiliano Boffelli, Pierre Schoeman, Cammy Hutchison and Jaco van der Walt make a visit to Linlithgow RFC for a day of rugby at Mains Park.
Trinity Academy is the next stop on the journey as Blair Kinghorn, Wes Goosen, Chris Dean and James Lang meet the school’s U16s and U18s for an afternoon skills session with Charlie Savala, Charlie Shiel and Connor Boyle then visiting nearby Ferryhill Primary School.
The final community session of the day sees Damien Hoyland, Luke Crosbie and Jamie Jack head to Malleny Park for a session with the Currie Chieftains Minis.
Supporters can stay tuned to the Our Burgh Community Day via the club’s social channels with coverage coming from each school and club throughout the afternoon of fun.
Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth has backed the outreach day and said:
“It’s absolutely brilliant that we’re able to give back to those clubs and schools that do so much to support us throughout the season.
“Club players, local school kids, boys and girls, and mini sections are the lifeblood of Edinburgh Rugby and the ‘Our Burgh’ initiative gives us the opportunity to connect back with our fantastic local community.”
