When Jamie Ritchie was announced as club co-captain alongside Grant Gilchrist for the 2022/23 season, the back-row became the 84th man to lead the capital team.
From Francis Moncreiff – Edinburgh District’s first-ever captain in 1872 – and Scott Hastings, the club’s first-ever pro era captain in 96/97, to today’s co-captains Ritchie and Gilchrist, we are able to present the full list of men to have captained Edinburgh through the amateur and professional eras.
