9 May 2023

Scotland Head Coach Gregor Townsend has today named 15 Edinburgh Rugby players* in his training squad for the upcoming Famous Grouse Nations Series and Rugby World Cup.

The squad selection sees four backs and 11 forwards named in the 41-man group, with the players set to come together this summer ahead of Nations Series fixtures against Italy (Sat 29 July, 3.15pm), France (Sat 5 August, 3pm) and Georgia (Sat 26 August, 5.30pm) at BT Murrayfield, as well as an away fixture against France on Sat 12 August.

In the backs, Darcy Graham, Blair Kinghorn and Duhan van der Merwe are all selected, while incoming Munster stand-off Ben Healy also gets the nod.

In the pack, front-rowers Pierre Schoeman, Stuart McInally, Dave Cherry and WP Nel are all picked Townsend, with summer signings Ewan Ashman (Sale Sharks) and Javan Sebastian (Scarlets) also named in wider training squad.

Sam Skinner, Grant Gilchrist, Luke Crosbie, Jamie Ritchie and Hamish Watson complete the 15 Edinburgh players selected for the upcoming summer camp, which will begin on 29 May to kickstart preparations for The Famous Grouse Nations Series.

The Rugby World Cup itself will see Scotland compete in Pool B alongside South Africa, Ireland, Tonga and Romania, with a first fixture against the world champion Springboks on Sunday 10 September in Marseille.

Scotland are back in action when they face Italy, France and Georgia in The Famous Grouse Nations Series at BT Murrayfield this July and August.
