Brown steps up to first pro deal

Edinburgh Rugby is delighted to announce that back-three specialist Jack Brown has stepped up to his first professional contract with the club.

The 20-year-old graduates to a pro contract having made 10 senior appearances in 2025/26, capping off a campaign in which the Edinburgh-born wing has grown into a reliable presence in the senior squad.

Brown delivered one of his most assured performances in a capital shirt last Friday, coming off the bench against the Hollywoodbets Sharks to play 40 minutes on the wing – making three line breaks and carrying 55 metres as Edinburgh claimed a bonus-point victory at Hive Stadium.

It was further confirmation of a breakthrough season for the George Watson’s College product, who started away to Benetton in January as Edinburgh ended an eight-year wait for a win at Stadio Monigo.

On stepping up, Brown said: “This means everything to me. I was born and raised in Edinburgh – this is my city, this is my club, and pulling on the castle and representing the capital of Scotland is something I never take for granted.

“Running out at Hive Stadium gives me a buzz like nothing else. I love playing for this team and I really enjoy working with Sean [Everitt] and the rest of the coaching staff – they’ve pushed me to become a better player every single day.

“I can’t wait to see what the future holds. I want to keep improving, keep earning my place and give everything I have for this club.”

Head Coach Sean Everitt added: “Jack has had a really encouraging season. He continues to grow – both physically and as a professional – and you can see the strides he is making every time he pulls on the jersey.

“He has all the attributes to succeed at this level. He’s tall, athletic, has a big boot, he’s courageous and he’s calm under the high ball – that combination is exciting in a back-three player.

“He now has the opportunity to earn his place in the senior squad and really kick on. We’re looking forward to watching him do that.”

A Scotland ‘A’ international, Brown came off the bench as Scotland ‘A’ edged Chile 19–17 at Hive Stadium in November 2024.

He also captained Scotland at the 2023 U18 Six Nations festival before going on to earn ten Scotland U20 caps, starting all five matches in the 2025 U20 Six Nations, and featuring against England, South Africa, Ireland and Georgia at the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship in Italy.

Brown follows scrum-half Hector Patterson in recently stepping up to a first professional deal, with fellow academy graduates Freddy Douglas, Liam McConnell, Ollie Blyth-Lafferty and Tom Currie all having impressed since breaking into the senior squad.
