Duncan, 20 – who is comfortable at blindside flanker or number 8 – becomes the latest local player to step into the professional ranks with his boyhood team.

A product of Edinburgh Academy, the dynamic forward has spent much of this season developing his craft with GB Sevens and London Scottish, and is eager to earn his first capital appearance.

On stepping up, Duncan said: “This club means everything to me, and I can’t wait to get stuck into things in the senior squad next season.

“It has been a good year for my development – I’ve enjoyed playing on the Sevens circuit, and senior men’s rugby in the English Championship for the first time.

“My immediate goal is to make my Edinburgh debut, and try to make my mark for the club I grew up supporting.”

Duncan joined the capital side’s academy ahead of the 2023/24 season, having captained Edinburgh U18 to inter-city derby success against Glasgow Warriors.

The big ball carrier then featured for Scotland U20 in their World Rugby U20 Trophy win at Hive Stadium, playing in the back-row alongside current academy graduates Liam McConnell, Tom Currie, and Freddy Douglas.

Duncan enjoyed a breakthrough U20 season in 2024/25, scoring five tries including a brace against Australia in the World Rugby U20 Championship, and in his side’s win against Ireland in the same tournament.

Duncan featured in Edinburgh’s pre-season matches against Ulster and Doncaster Knights, before making his GB Sevens debut at Dubai Sevens in November 2025 and has featured six times for loan side London Scottish, scoring one try.

On the deal, Head Coach Sean Everitt said: “Ollie is an exciting player, who carries well and is confrontational in defence. He’s not afraid to get stuck into things, and that fight is something that we value greatly at Edinburgh.

“He’s a young guy, and there’s an exciting future ahead of him, and I can’t wait to see how he continues to develop with us.”
