‘I will always give 100% for this jersey’ – Boyle signs on for 2026/27

Edinburgh Rugby today confirmed back-row Connor Boyle has signed a new one-year deal with the capital club.
The 26-year-old returns for his sixth season of professional rugby having made seven appearances in 2025/26 – a campaign that will be remembered most for his comeback from the serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for over twelve months.
Boyle made his return in December, coming off the bench away to Castres Olympique in the Investec Champions Cup, before going on to start at openside flanker against Ulster and at number 8 against Zebre Parma – demonstrating the versatility that has long made him a valued member of Edinburgh’s back-row options.
On penning his new deal, Boyle said: “This club means everything to me – it always has. Growing up here, coming through the pathway, pulling on this jersey for the first time – none of that is lost on me, and it never will be.
“The last year and a bit has been the hardest of my career but I never once thought about giving up. I worked as hard as I’ve ever worked to get back out on that pitch, and I feel like I’m getting back to my best. There’s still so much I want to give.
“I know I’m not one of the young guys anymore, and honestly, I’m relishing that. I want to be someone the group can lean on – in training, on matchday, wherever I’m needed.
“What I can promise is this: I will always give 100% for this jersey. That’s not something that’s ever changed, and it’s not something that ever will.”
A product of the Edinburgh pathway, Boyle represented the region at every age-grade before making his professional debut in October 2020, becoming Edinburgh player #1280. He has now made 49 appearances for his hometown club.
Growing up a stone’s throw from Scottish Gas Murrayfield and a former pupil at Stewart’s Melville College, Boyle has represented Scotland at U16, U18, and U20 levels, captaining the U20 side during the 2019 Six Nations.
Head Coach Sean Everitt said: “What Connor has shown over the past twelve months is the kind of character that defines this group. Coming back from a long-term injury of that nature takes real mental strength, and he’s done it the right way – quietly, diligently, without fuss.
“He’s an Edinburgh man, born and bred, and that matters. He understands what this club means to the supporters and what it means to wear this jersey.
“Connor has really stepped up in a leadership capacity around this squad, and I think 2026/27 is going to be a big season for him. We’re delighted to have him with us.”
