Glen Moray donate on-kit sponsorship to My Name’5 Doddie Foundation

13 Jan 2023

Edinburgh Rugby’s Official Single Malt Whisky Partner, Glen Moray, today donated their on-kit sponsor position to My Name’5 Doddie Foundation for this Sunday’s Heineken Champions Cup match against Castres Olympique at the Stade Pierre Fabre (15 January, kick-off 1pm GMT).

The Glen Moray brand normally features on the sleeve of the club’s home and alternate Macron match kit but will be replaced with the logo of the MND charity for the clash in France, where legislation prohibits alcohol companies from advertising during sports events.

Launched in November 2017 by the late Doddie Weir OBE and his trustees, the foundation is committed to helping improve the lives of those affected by Motor Neuron Disease, providing grants and charitable sums for the MND Association and MND Scotland.

Doddie Aid – the mass-participation exercise event founded by former Scotland captain Rob Wainwright – this month returned a third year, giving those signing-up the chance to join a 30,000 strong community who’ve raised over £2 million for MND research.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth has welcomed Glen Moray’s on-kit sponsor donation, and said:

“Glen Moray are a brilliant sponsor who share the same core values as Edinburgh Rugby – they have a passion for engaging with their local community while ensuring they are connected to those that support their business.

“Therefore, we’re delighted that they’ve chosen to donate their on-kit sponsor patch to My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, a charity who are intrinsically linked to the Scottish rugby community through their fantastic fundraising initiatives like Doddie Aid.”

Glen Moray UK Marketing Manager, James Collins, said:

“As the Official Whisky of Edinburgh Rugby, Glen Moray was honoured to have the opportunity to donate our on-kit sponsor position to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation for the club’s upcoming clash in France.

“It’s an incredibly worthwhile cause, and we hope this visibility will help to raise awareness of the fantastic work of the foundation and make a positive difference to the lives of those with Motor Neurone Disease.”
