Club centurion and Scotland Internationalist Stuart McInally has earned a call-up to the famous Barbarians RFC for their upcoming fixture against Harlequins at the Twickenham Stoop.
McInally, who has amassed 169 appearances for Edinburgh and earned 47 caps for his country, adds to his impressive personal career accolades with the call up to the famous invitational side.
In being selected, he will become the latest Edinburgh man to play for the Baa-Baas, with Bill Mata and Pierre Schoeman the most recent.
The 32-year-old hooker adds further international quality to the Barbarians’ squad, with All Black Damian Mckenzie, former England internationalist Mike Brown, Ireland cap John Ryan, Springbok Francois Hougaard and England halfback Dan Robson all confirmed to don the black and white jersey.
On his selection, McInally said: “I’m extremely grateful and excited to be joining up with the Baa-Baas next week. After a frustrating month on the sidelines with injury, I’ve been really looking forward to this opportunity and can’t wait to join the group next Monday.”
Edinburgh Head coach Mike Blair added: “It’s a great opportunity for Stuart, and one that’s thoroughly deserved. It’s a real honour to play for the Barbarians, very few players get to do it.
“Seeing our players perform for representative sides is always exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing how Stuart goes at the Stoop.”
