‘This is my home’ – Scott extends capital stay
Edinburgh Rugby is delighted to announce 23-year-old stand-off Cammy Scott has signed a two-year contract extension, committing his future to the capital club.
Edinburgh-born Scott, a product of the club’s academy, has made significant strides this season, featuring across several ‘A’ team and senior fixtures.
So far this season, Scott has gained valuable minutes off the bench in crucial victories against DHL Stormers, Munster, Dragons, and most recently, the EPCR Challenge Cup Round of 16 triumph over Emirates Lions.
Scott expressed his delight at extending his stay with his boyhood club.
“I’m incredibly proud to re-sign with Edinburgh Rugby,” he said. “This is my home and representing this club means everything to me.
“I feel like I’ve got so much more to offer and develop as a player here. The opportunities I’ve been given this season have been invaluable and I’m determined to keep pushing forward.
“We’ve got a massive quarter-final against Vodacom Bulls this Saturday and I’m excited to be part of what promises to be a thrilling end to the season.”
Scott’s journey began at George Watson’s College in Edinburgh before he further honed his skills playing club rugby for Boroughmuir RFC and Southern Knights.
A former Scotland U20 international, Scott progressed through the national age-grade system, representing Scotland at U16, U17, and U18 levels before moving to the U20 squad.
He also gained valuable experience during a loan spell at London Scottish.
Scott made his professional debut for Edinburgh Rugby against Cardiff Rugby in 2022, becoming player #1317 to represent the club.
Edinburgh Rugby Head Coach Sean Everitt praised Scott’s dedication and potential.
He said: “Cammy has shown tremendous hard work and resilience. It’s always special to see local lads representing their city, and Cammy embodies that spirit.
“He’s a player with a bright future and we’re excited to see him continue to develop within our environment. He is one to watch for the future and we are looking forward to seeing his continued growth over the next two seasons.”
