The 27-year-old – who recently returned to training after recovering from shoulder surgery – has featured in six Edinburgh Rugby fixtures this season, grabbing a brace of tries in the home EPCR Challenge Cup win over Bayonne.

Dodd has also featured on the international stage, captaining Scotland ‘A’ in their friendly against Chile at Hive Stadium in November, crossing the whitewash in a 19-17 win.

On penning a new deal, Dodd said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in Edinburgh since moving north in 2023, and I feel like I still have a lot more to offer this club.

“It’s a fantastic group to be a part of, and the competition within the back-row group is continually pushing everyone to improve.

“While I’m still working my way back to full fitness after my shoulder surgery, I’m determined to play my part and contribute to the team as much as possible as we push for the play-offs.”

Having joined Edinburgh Rugby ahead of the 2023/24 season from English Championship side Coventry Rugby on an initial two-year contract, Dodd has quickly become a valued member of the squad.

He previously represented Scotland at U20 level, being part of the squad that achieved a record fifth-place finish at the 2017 World Rugby U20 Championship in Georgia alongside current Edinburgh teammates Darcy Graham and Charlie Shiel. Dodd scored four tries in his 10 appearances for the junior Scots.

Qualifying for Scotland through his Glenrothes-born mother, Dodd is a product of the Worcester Warriors academy. He spent five seasons at Sixways, making 31 appearances and scoring one try before the club entered administration.

Edinburgh Rugby Head Coach Sean Everitt commented: “Tom is a very valuable player for us. His consistency in his performances is a real asset, and he has shown himself to be a true leader within the group.

“This new deal really bolsters our back-row unit, complementing the exciting young Scottish talent that is also developing within our ranks.”
