Venter to join Emirates Lions
15 Dec 2025Edinburgh Rugby can confirm that Springbok loosehead prop Boan Venter will depart the club at the end of the current season to join Emirates Lions.
Boan joined the club in 2020 and has made 96 appearances for Edinburgh Rugby to date.
During his time at the club, Venter’s performances have earned him international recognition, culminating in his Springboks debut last summer against Georgia. He has since gone on to earn eight caps for South Africa.
Venter said: “I am thankful to Edinburgh Rugby and everyone that contributed to my career over the last five years.
“It is now time for us to head back home and we are very excited for the opportunity with the Emirates Lions and to be closer to family.
“I can assure everyone that I will be giving my absolute all for this badge and my teammates right up until the final whistle of the season.”
Head Coach Sean Everitt said: “On behalf of everyone at Edinburgh Rugby, I would like to thank Boan for his services to the club over the past five years.
“He has been a big part of our squad and has certainly made an impact on the field, which was rewarded with his international call-up.
“We wish him and his family all the very best for his move back to South Africa and his new challenge with the Lions.”
