Academy quartet join English championship

Four Edinburgh Rugby academy players are to continue their development in the English Championship following the recent conclusion of the FOSROC Super6.

Cammy Scott (stand-off), Dan Gamble (tighthead) and Harri Morris (hooker) have joined London Scottish on a short-term loan, while loosehead Mikey Jones has made the move to Ampthill RFC, also on a short-term loan.

Head Coach Mike Blair said: “With the FOSROC Super6 Championship coming to a close this is a great opportunity for our academy players to pick up more game time while playing at a higher level.

“We want our younger guys playing and improving all the time, so it’s brilliant we’ve had this opportunity open up. We’re thankful to both London Scottish and Ampthill RFC.”

Scott – who made his professional debut in last month’s win at Cardiff Rugby – has been a standout performer for Southern Knights, while Morris made his injury comeback for the Greenyards club at the tail end of the season, after making a positional switch from back-row to hooker.

Former Kelso RFC and Scotland age-grade prop Gamble has featured up front for Heriot’s Rugby.

Jones – who also starred for Heriot’s RFC this past season – has joined Ampthill RFC on a short-term loan where he started in Saturday’s 17-13 defeat to Caldy RFC.
