Ashman voted Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for April
8 May 2026Edinburgh Rugby is delighted to announce that hooker Ewan Ashman has been voted the Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for April.
Edinburgh Rugby is delighted to announce that hooker Ewan Ashman has been voted the Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for April.
Ashman takes home the award after picking up the most votes from supporters, beating out Hector Patterson, Piers O’Conor and Darcy Graham to claim the honour.
The hooker has been one of Edinburgh’s most consistent performers all season, but April saw him reach another level entirely.
Ashman went the full 80 minutes in back-to-back home fixtures against Zebre Parma and the Hollywoodbets Sharks, scoring twice in the first of those matches and adding another against the Sharks.
He was named BKT Player of the Match in both games – a remarkable achievement that speaks to the relentless quality of his performances across the month, whether in the set-piece, the loose or as a finishing threat at the line.
Ashman is Edinburgh’s top try scorer this season, having crossed seven times across all competitions, while he has been equally prolific at international level, scoring five tries for Scotland during the Autumn Nations Series.
As part of the Scottish Building Society Player of the Month initiative, the club’s Main Club Partner will donate £500 to each winner’s chosen cause.
In the build-up to next Friday’s #ChangeTheGame fixture against Connacht, Ashman has chosen to donate his prize to Edinburgh Rugby’s Official Charity Partner It’s Good 2 Give, which supports young cancer patients and their families.
Ashman said: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me – I really appreciate the support. I’m really enjoying my rugby at the moment and hopefully that comes across in my performances.
“I feel confident right now and I love playing for this team – there’s a great group of lads here and the belief we have in each other is huge.
“It’s not been the easiest season at times, but I love the fight we’ve shown in this last block of games. We’ve got a couple of big ones to finish and we want to make it count. I’d love to end with a couple of strong wins and give the fans something to celebrate.
He continued: “I’m really grateful to Scottish Building Society for their continued support of this award. It’s brilliant that the £500 can go to It’s Good 2 Give – they do incredible work for young cancer patients and their families, and with #ChangeTheGame coming up, it felt like the right moment to contribute. Hopefully it makes a real difference.”
Head Coach Sean Everitt said: “Ewan has been outstanding for us this season and April was another excellent example of the standards he sets.
“To go the full 80 in back-to-back games and score three tries across those two fixtures is a remarkable return, but what stands out even more is how consistently he delivers across every area of his game.
“His work at the set-piece, his carrying, his line-out, his work-rate at the breakdown – it all adds up to a player who gives us so much week in, week out. He’s a deserving winner and we’re delighted to see the fans recognise that.”
