Edinburgh Rugby academy squad named for Howden Melrose Sevens
Edinburgh Rugby today announced its academy squad, captained by Tom Currie, to compete in this weekend’s 2025 Howden Melrose Sevens at The Greenyards (Saturday 24 May).
The Edinburgh Rugby academy team will kick off their afternoon against Stewart’s Melville RFC in the first round at 11.36am, with the full tournament broadcast live on Premier Sports.
The squad features a blend of current academy talents and exciting prospects. Current pro-academy players Currie, Lewis Wells, Jerry Blyth-Lafferty, Sam Leweni, Nairn Moncrieff, Hamish MacArthur and Ross Wolfenden are all set to represent the capital club this weekend.
They are joined by three promising additions: Rory Brogan, from Fettes College and Edinburgh Accies; Ben McFarlane, a young back currently on trial with the club; and Henry Widdowson, the young Merchiston Castle fly-half who has represented Scotland U18.
